Practically everybody struggles with acne at some point in their lives. Generally throughout their teenage years, but there are many that have acne dilemmas well into their thirties and even afterwards. As a result of that, items stating to fix or even prevent acne are literally flooding the market.

To start with, there are acne treatments cleansers. As with any other soap, these are to be used to rinse the face, usually two times a day. Most of the labels will say that they work by deep cleansing the pores by removing debris and extra moisture. In addition to soap, there are plenty of acne treatment astringents on the market. These work almost like the cleansers do by sterilizing the pores and removing moisture. However, astringents are used by wetting a cotton pad with the astringent and then using the pad to cleanse the affected places.

A common result of both cleansers and astringents is dry skin, or even flushed, peeling skin. Fortunately, there are plenty of moisturizing creams and lotions available for purchase that are supposed to relieve the skin and keep it nice and soft.

Acne skin care treatments usually come in containers with more than one item. For example, an acne skin care treatment could have deep cleaning soap, astringent, and moisturizer all in one.

For more serious acne, a dermatologist can also prescribe treatments. Some of these might have special more powerful kinds of soap or astringents, but in a lot of cases, a dermatologist`s prescription will include drugs in pill form to combat the acne from inside the body. These acne treatments are rather powerful and are usually only recommended for people who have tried over-the-counter items to cure their acne without success.

In addition to acne treatment medications, there are also acne laser treatments which work by using a laser to shine light through the skin and trigger the body`s normal bacteria combating mechanisms. The result is fewer and less severe breakouts.

The acne laser treatment is not very hurtful. People who have had the treatment describe the feeling as like being snapped with a rubber band. And it does not affect natural daily events. Though the face may look slightly puffy and red, these side-effects usually fade after a couple hours to a couple days after the laser treatment.

On the downside, acne laser treatments are not cheap. A single treatment of just the cheeks cost about $275. And because it usually takes four treatments to really improve the acne, that makes it cost about $1100 just for the cheeks alone.

For people who have had acne in the past and now have deep, atrophic scars, there is something called a laser acne scar treatment that can lessen those scars and make the skin look soft and supple. The scar removal works by using a laser in order to stimulate the body to produce new skin in that place, thereby filling in the scar. This, too, is quite costly, costing about the same as the acne laser treatments.

However, because there are so many different acne treatments available on the market today, everyone has a much better chance of finding the correct solution for their acne.
